Carlton & United Breweries

Pirate Life, Port Adelaide

FASTEST INBEV BREWERY INSTALL

TFG was awarded the mechanical installation of the 50 hectolitre brewhouse in Port Adelaide.  

WORKING WITH THE PIRATES  

The initial design scope of the pipe racks and walkways changed significantly from using Galvanized steel to Stainless steel. 

STAINLESS STEEL APPLICATIONS

Stainless steel tube AS1528 in a combination of 304 & 316 was used throughout the Pirate Life Brewery using approx. 3 km of tube to complete the installation.

Ahrens Group

Coopers Maltings, Coopers Brewery

World Class Facility

The largest Australian owned brewer, Coopers, has opened a $65 million malting plant at their Regency Park brewery in Adelaide, South Australia. The 13,000 square meter plant is considered the most technically advanced in the world and will produce around 54,000 tonnes of malt per year, giving Coopers full control over an important raw material.

Bundaberg Brewed Drinks

CIP and Syrup Upgrade

Scope of Project

TFG was awarded the project to install a 4 loop CIP system to increase the efficiency of the Bundaberg Brewed Drinks plant in Brisbane. TFG also performed a syrup capacity upgrade which included the installation of 3 syrup holding tanks to upgrade the existing facility.

This upgrade will allow Bundaberg to continue to deliver premium beverages in a more efficient timeframe.

Coca-Cola Amatil

UHT and Glassline Expansion

Major Installation

A $165 million expansion at the CCA Richlands site has allowed the plant to increase production to 90 million unit cases of drink each year. TFG was awarded the mechanical installation of the new dairy and juice processing system with Tetra Pak and the installation of the new glass bottling line for Krones. Both initiatives will increase production capacity and deliver optimal materials handling and increase revenue sales for the Richlands Bottling and new warehouse facility.

Bevy Brewery at The Camfield Tavern

Installation Experts

Lion Dairy & Drinks Services awarded Foodline Projects the installation of the boutique “Bevy Brewery” in the new $5 billion Optus Stadium precinct. The project afforded the mechanical installation team a six-week window to complete the installation of the three-stage DME 12 hectolitre Brewery.

Carlton United Brewery

Zeimann Woodchip Cooking Plant

Scope of Project

The TFG team was awarded the project to upgrade the existing Woodchip Cooking Plant for Ziemann, to allow the brewing of an additional woodchip flavour for the new Budweiser brew. TFG installed the permanent woodchip flavour dosing skid.

Coca Cola Amatil

Tank Farm and Syrup Room Richlands Expansion

Manufacturing Boost

A $165 million expansion at the CCA Richlands site has allowed the plant to increase production to 90 million unit cases of drink each year. The new capacity will make this CCA site Australia’s largest beverage making sites.

TFG is proud to have completed the Richlands CCA upgrade in the UHT and the glass bottling line. Simultaneously TFG was also awarded the new alcohol Tank Farm expansion and Syrup Room manifolds.

Beston Pure Foods

Mozzarella Cheese Plant Installation

Scope of Works

Foodline Projects was awarded the mechanical installation at the Beston Pure Foods Mozzarella Cheese factory in Jervois, South Australia. A team of 14 qualified tradesmen were contracted to install the new plant at the brownfield site including the supply and install of all process and service pipework and valve manifolds. The manifolds were fabricated offsite to assist with the accelerating project timeline of six months. Foodline also installed eight modified cheese vats and approximately three kilometres of 316 stainless steel pipe and upgraded the CIP set and pasteuriser room. Orbital welders were used to maintain the sanitary grade required in such a facility.

Process Partners

Flavoured Milk Upgrade, Masters

Scope of Works

Foodline Projects were the main mechanical installation company to complete the major flavoured milk upgrade at Project Pearl in Bentley, Western Australia. Foodline installed a new CIP system, along with three kilometres of stainless steel 316 tube for Lion Dairy & Drinks with the automation project completed by Process Partners.

Coca-Cola Amatil

Blow-fill lines, installation, Coca-Cola facilities

Blow-Fill Technology

In 2009, Coca-Cola Amatil (Aust) announced it would invest up to US$430m to install blow-fill technology across all production plants in their Asia Pacific region. Blow-fill technology automates the bottling and packaging process and leads to a 20 per cent reduction in the carbon footprint of each container. Some of these carbon savings comes from a reduction in the amount of PET resin required, with other energy savings gained from the elimination of transport to separate bottling facilities.

Innovative Project

Foodline Projects was awarded the mechanical installation to fabricate and install pipework and associated pipe racks to the most modern capabilities/dairy facility in Australia. Foodline tradesman installed 7.5km of stainless steel tube at the new plant with the latest Tetra Pak® processing technology.

Pipework Upgrade, Johnson & Johnson

Global Innovation

In 2013, Tetra Pak engaged Foodline Projects to assist with the upgrade of primary pipework for their powdered formula milk production facility, owned by Johnson’s Baby Foods in Singapore. The upgrade came after fears of contaminated formula milk products through the Asian market and it was decided that the facility would be upgraded to meet stringent Australian Standards.

Foodline Projects was engaged by Carlton & United Breweries to uninstall and then mechanically install the plant and equipment from Warnervale to the new cider making facility in Abbotsford. Foodline had comprehensive knowledge of both sites from previous installations and completed the project under budget and within time frame.

Krones & Lion

Brewhouse Install & Upgrade, Boags Brewery

Major Project Team

Foodline Projects was originally engaged by Krones to install the new brewhouse, malt handling facilities and cellar upgrade at the brownfield site in Tasmania. Foodline’s success in this installation prompted brewery owners Lion to engage Foodline to complete the rest of the project which included a green beer centrifuge upgrade, fermentation system and filtration system upgrade.

Foodline showcased their project management capabilities by completing the four major installations on an existing brownfield site for two different clients without injury or unscheduled lost production time.

Smith's

Continuous Kettle Fryer Line Upgrade, Smith's Snackfood

Innovation in Food Production

In 2003, Smith’s Snackfoods embarked on a major production upgrade by installing their first Continuous Kettle Fryer (CKF) machines. This state-of-the-art technology allows a replication of the traditional time-temperature profile of a kettle fryer but in a continuous loop. Due to the changes in oil temperature in standard kettle frying methods, creating a continuous U-shaped temperature profile was a breakthrough in food production technology.

Coopers

Brewhouse Upgrade, Coopers Brewery

Expansion

In 2013, Coopers Managing Director Tim Cooper announced his intention to double the size of its existing 250sqm Regency Park lager cellar along with installing a second bottling line and two additional fermenters to meet the growing demand of Coopers products in the Australian beer market.

Coopers engaged Foodline Projects to complete the new bottling line, install upgrades to the mash filter, fermenters and yeast propagation systems and install a new evaporator at the Adelaide plant.

Foodline received a special mention from Managing Director Tim Cooper at the opening of the new brewhouse and bottling plant.

SPX Flow Technology

New Production Line Installation, Meadowlea Factory

New Production Line

As part of Graincorp’s consolidation strategy, Meadowlea margarine products will be produced from the Footscray, Victoria facility from 2016.

SPX Flow Technology, on behalf of Graincorp awarded Foodline Projects a contract to install the new Meadowlea margarine production line in early 2015.

Tetra Pak

Filling Line Upgrade, Harvey Fresh

Food Production Specialists

In 2011, Tetra Pak engaged Foodline Projects to assist with the upgrade of a filling line at the Harvey Fresh flavoured milk production facility in Western Australia’s South West. Foodline completed the installation using orbital welding techniques to ensure the highest quality finish and bacterial contamination.

Project Hyde Park, West End Brewery

Major Project Team

Lion chose Foodline Projects as the preferred mechanical installation contractor for the entire Hyde Park Project.

Valued at more than $10m, the two-yearproject was a huge success with Foodline’s management staff working closely with Lion project engineers to finalise the most effective design options.

Cellar Upgrade, West End Brewery

Major Project Team

Part of Lion’s $70m refurbishment of the West End Brewery in South Australia included an upgrade to the cellar allowing for full automation through the maturation and fermentation phases of the capabilities/brewing process.

For the cellar upgrade and associated system installations, Lion engaged mechanical installation experts Foodline Projects to work alongside engineering firm Process Partners. Foodline Projects and Process Partners jointly managed the project, combining their experience and expertise to provide a total project solution for Lion.

Krones

Brewhouse Installation, Little Creatures Brewery

Iconic Brewery Upgrade

Over a five month period in 2006, Foodline Projects were entrusted to install a new brewhouse and fermentation cellar for Little Creatures in Fremantle, Western Australia. The new 200 hectolitre brewhouse replaced the existing 50 hectolitre operation while trading continued as normal.

Grade 304 & 316 stainless steel was used for its high levels of sanitation, contamination and corrosion resistance and low maintenance requirements.

Cider Upgrade, West End Brewery

Major Project Team

Part of Lion’s $70m refurbishment of the West End Brewery in South Australia included an upgrade to the cidery allowing the full scope of Lion’s cider portfolio to be produced including James Squire Orchid Crush, 5 Seeds and Kirin ciders.

Lion engaged mechanical installation experts Foodline Projects in conjunction with ME Engineering to install the new cider vessels and associated pipework.

Krones

Brewhouse Installation, Little Creatures Brewery

Iconic Brewery Expansion

The success of the Little Creatures Fremantle brand and subsequent buy out by capabilities/brewing giant Lion led to a $60m investment in a new Little Creatures brewery located in Geelong, Victoria.

After the successful installation of the Fremantle brewhouse expansion, Foodline Projects was the obvious choice to install the new brewhouse, fermentation vessels and filtration tanks at the new site in regional Victoria.

The East Coast shift reduces transport costs across the Nullarbor and allows for even greater expansion of the Little Creatures iconic brand.

SPX Flow Technology

Midfield Dryer, Penola

Scope of Works

Foodline Projects was contracted by SPX Flow Technology to install a 3.9 tonne milk powder plant for Midfield Meat International, the end client. The installation was completed over a period of seven months and comprised of an evaporator, dryer equipment and all associated pipework. Foodline was also engaged to complete and install the ducting for the project. The sequence of the project timeline involved the installation of all main equipment including the MVR and TVR Calandrias (both EFB & IFB), bag filter and homogeniser. Foodline assembled the dryer cone and chamber and then installed these components with the evaporator and dryer.

Brewhouse Installation, West End Brewery

Major Project Team

Krones awarded Foodline Projects with the contract to install the new brewhouse at West End Brewery in South Australia. In a world first for Krones and Lion, the brewery stayed functioning without a single hour of lost production time outside of the 7-week shutdown period. During this time, Foodline worked with temporary pipe relocations to ensure vessels could be swapped out without disruption to existing operations.

Project Scope

WATER FARM

The water farm relocation and installation was completed whilst the plant was at full running capacity. To ensure no loss of production, Foodline Projects implemented a phased installation of the new vessels whilst systematically decommissioning and phasing out the old water farm. This included 5 new water vessels and 4 Clean in Place (CIP) tanks.

BOILER UPGRADE

Two new boilers were installed using 350mm nominal bore steel pipework with the old boilers decommissioned and removed from the site.

TEMPORARY WORKS

Foodline Projects installed a large amount of temporary pipework to allow continuous production whilst vessels were changed out. These temporary works were then removed at the end of the project.

As part of the brewery upgrade project by capabilities/brewing giant Lion, Foodline were engaged to upgrade the malt handling facilities within the brewery. The new facilities had to be installed and commissioned to coincide with the 7 week shutdown to ensure no additional lost production time. During this time, Foodline worked with temporary pipe relocations to ensure vessels could be swapped out without disruption to existing operations.

Process Partners

Mechanical Installation, Project Ninja

Process Partners

Foodline Projects was awarded the mechanical installation of three new flavoured milk lines and three new fillers. Foodline was engaged as one of the lead contractors through Process Partners, who designed and engineered the Lion Flavoured Milk Upgrade at the Wetherill Park Site in New South Wales. This is Lion’s largest capabilities/dairy project in Australia and is currently in validation stage.
